What is celebrated on Christmas Day?
Everybody should know that this wonderful holiday is celebrated to remember the birth of the Son of God.
By the way, do you know how the birth of Jesus Christ came about? His mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they married, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.
Her husband was a righteous man and didn't expose her to public disgrace, yet he made a decision to divorce her quietly.
But soon after that, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit."
When he woke up, he did what the angel told him. He took Mary home as his wife and gave their son the name Jesus.

Jesus was born in the spring before 4 BC because that was the year Herodes died. If we consider that the star of Bethlehem was two planets very near each other he was born in May 7 BC because chinese astronoms wrote down that Saturnus and Jupiter were very near each other 3 times that year, in May, September and October.

First off, the question asks. " what is celebrated on Christmas Day",not "on what day was Jesus born". Secondly, it really IS sad that people don't know the answer.

Hahahaha.....all this debate about 'when' is moot.....there's not a shred of evidence that this 'jesus' person did actually exist. The utterly ridiculous bible is certainly no reliable source of reference. Grow up people, fairy tales are for little children.

babafrby, The fact is that some people did not get this correct. Plus, the question was what is celebrated on that day, not when was Jesus born. Not everybody has had the same experiences nor opportunities. This isn't a Mensa site so we should expect different levels of questions. You don't need to be dismissive of others and rude.
