What is Japan's major ancient religion?

Shinto is not only the major ancient religion in the land of the rising sun, it is also regarded as a national one. By the way, Shinto means “Gods’ way”.

Being a very ancient one, this religion comprises various beliefs and cults typical of pagan society such as animalism, totemism, fetishism and so on. You may be surprised to know, but only at the beginning of the 6^th century, the Japanese got acquainted with Buddhism and Confucianism. As a result, all these three religions interacted and borrowed a lot from each other.

Gary Klepper I meant to be able to live peacefully beside each other instead of continuing all the fighting like has been going on in the Middle East. Christ is my Savior but we are supposed to teach IN LOVE those that do not believe so that they may not be lost.

I am a Christian. I also know that God has been called by many names throughout history (even within the Judeo-Christian history). There are many paths to the Creator, and many profits have lived through the years. Religion is just people's way of trying to understand that which is beyond human understanding. I Am speaks to all of us in unique ways. Ours is not to judge, ours is to love and serve.
