Speedcubing (also known as speedsolving, or just cubing) is a sport involving solving a variety of combination puzzles, the most famous being the 3x3x3 puzzle or Rubik's Cube, as quickly as possible. An individual who competes in speedcubing is known as a speedcuber or just cuber.

The Rubik's Cube was invented in 1974 by Hungarian professor of architecture, Ernő Rubik (Born 13 July 1944). Later, Ernő Rubik partnered with Ideal Toy company to widespread the international interest in the cube which began in 1979, which soon developed into a global craze. On June 5, 1982, the first world championship was held in Budapest, Hungary.
