What is the currency of Guatemala?
The quetzal is the currency of Guatemala, named after the national bird of Guatemala, the Resplendent quetzal.
In ancient Mayan culture, the quetzal bird's tail feathers were used as currency. It is divided into 100 centavos or lenes in Guatemalan slang. The plural is quetzales.

I took an educated guess since Guatemala is in the heart of what was Mayan country.
Of course, don't go there without a camera! The quetzal is a beautiful bird, named for Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent god in Mayan mythology.

Noreen Kelly, the accent is on the last syllable, rather than pretzel. More like the name Al. quetzAL
