What is the largest country in the world?

Russia is still the country with the largest area in the world. It's about 17,076,000 km² (2015). The Asian part of the Russian Federation makes it the largest state in Asia, and its European part makes it the largest European country as well.

As the total land area of the world is about 149,000,000 km² , Russia occupies approximately one ninth of the whole Earth's land. Moreover, the Russian Federation's area may also be compared with that of a dwarf planet and win. For example, the area of Russia is larger then the area of Pluto.

The question is not clear. It should specify land area and not population. Russia has the largest land area but China has the largest population.

If someone asked you what was the largest planet in the solar system, would you answer Earth as that is the most populous or use your brain and say Jupiter? FFS people largest is ALWAYS size unless specified otherwise.

Why don't people read the question twice as you are told to do in exams. That way you will realise it says the largest country not the most populated one.
