The correct term for a group of crows is a flock. The term “Murder of Crows” is poetic at best and has only come into common usage since the book, “An Exaltation of Larks

There is s way to distinguish crows from rooks. I think it's to do with the feathers at the top of their legs. Also the way they walk has something to do with it.
