Elizabeth in the Bible is the wife of Zechariah, mother of John the Baptist, and a relative of Mary the mother of Jesus. Her story is told in Luke 1:5-80. The Scriptures describe Elizabeth as a woman who is "righteous in the eyes of God, careful to obey all of the Lord's commands and regulations" (Luke 1:6).

As an aging woman, Elizabeth's childlessness might have been a source of shame and adversity for her in a society like Israel where a woman's worth was closely linked to her ability to bear children. But Elizabeth remained faithful to God, knowing the Lord remembers those who are loyal to him. God was in control of Elizabeth's destiny as John the Baptist's mother. Trust God with the circumstances and timing of your life.
