Actually, Genie is the pseudonym for the feral child. She is one of the most recognizable victims of social isolation.

The baby (Genie) was born in 1957. At the time she reached the age of 1 year, her father decided that the baby was mentally retarded. He locked her alone in a room and kept her in complete isolation for about 12 years! She wasn't allowed to speak or come out of the room. At night, he kept her in an iron cage.

The victim was released from the disgusting prison on the 4th of November, 1970. Today, she is living in an undisclosed location in California.

What a heartbreaking story! Her real name is Susan Wiley. In 1978 her mother stopped letting anyone work with her(scientists, doctors, etc.), so nobody knows where she is or how she's doing..

Oh my, she would be a 60 year old woman now. I wonder whatever became of her. So sad. Sorry her father offed himself...should have been put through 12 years of severe punishment himself. Death was too easy. The poor child, and her mother and her brother.
