In the TV series I Love Lucy, the character Ricky Ricardo (played by Cuban-born Desi Arnaz) was a singer and bandleader at New York City's fictional Tropicana nightclub. It is now recreated in reality in Jamestown, New York at the Lucille Ball Desi Arnaz Center's Tropicana Room.

In 1945, New York's Tropicana Club was a Latin music club launched by Manolo and Tony Alfaro. They were brothers from Cuba who made the Tropicana Club the most glamorous nightclub in the Bronx. Ultimately, the Tropicana with its atmosphere and make up had an impact in spreading Cuban culture internationally.
