Ramadan or Ramadhan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, and the month in which the Quran was revealed. Fasting during the month of Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The Muslims don't eat during the daylight hours in Ramadan, unless they are ill, pregnant, or diabetic, breastfeeding, or traveling. The followers of the Islam believe that Muhammad, the central figure of their faith and the main prophet, received the first revelation during Ramadan. It's not obligatory for children to fast during the month, but some of them practice fasting a little to get prepared for their future participation. Another Ramadan tradition is giving charity.
