'Shaun the Sheep' is an animated children's programme produced by Aardman Animations about a sheep called Shaun, who lives on Mossy Bottom Farm with a gullible but lovable flock. They are constantly watched over by a worrisome but strict sheepdog named Bitzer and an unnamed farmer. The sheep are always determined to have fun without being detected by the farmer, whilst Bitzer tries to prevent them from getting up to mischief.

The series is based on a sheep that featured in the 1995 short film 'A Close Shave' featuring the well-loved characters Wallace and Gromit. 'Shaun the Sheep' first aired in the United Kingdom on the CBBC (Children's British Broadcasting Corporation) channel on 5th March 2007. Each episode is 7 minutes and they have since been broadcast in 180 countries. In 2015, a short film called 'Shaun the Sheep: The Farmer's Llamas' was released as a Christmas TV special, followed by a full-length film in 2019 called 'A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon'.

Bitzer usually wears a blue knit cap, black collar, wrist-watch, and carries a clipboard. He gives instructions to the flock of sheep by blowing a whistle. Whilst he takes his job very seriously, he occasionally gets caught listening to music.

'Shaun the Sheep' won the British Academy Children's Award for Animation in 2010, 2014 and 2015. It also won an International Emmy Award in 2016.
