What is the name of the territory in the USA, Canada and South America ruled by Indian tribes?
An Indian reservation is an area of land tenure governed by a federally recognized Native American tribal nation under the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs, rather than by the government of the state in which it is located. The 326 Indian reservations in the United States are associated with specific Native American nations, often on a one-to-one basis.
Some of the country's 574 federally recognized tribes govern more than one reservation, while some share reservations, and others have no reservation at all. In addition, because of past land allotments, leading to sales to non–Native Americans, some reservations are severely fragmented, with each piece of tribal, individual, and privately held land being a separate enclave. This jumble of private and public real estate creates significant administrative, political and legal difficulties.

Brian, read a newspaper so you can learn how inappropriate and offensive this question and answer is. First off, they’re not “Indians”, they didn’t come from India. They prefer Native Americans, the Indigenous People of North America or First Nations as in they were here first before their land was stolen by colonialists.

All of Turtle Island is our homeland. Reservations are what little is left after the European colonizers stole it, acceoted it as ceded under duress and used starvation, disease and the kidnapping and torture of our children to enforce complance with the occupiers. The First Nations in Canada can find their reserves overwhelmed by development if valuable minerals are discovered there. More recently, the Canadian government has wanted to build pipelines across their traditional territories.

Mark Yakabuski, the indigenous people who live near (mostly Cherokee and Lumber) me prefer to be called Indians. They are not upset with that term at all. Please don’t take up causes to speak for people without checking with them first, it’s very demeaning. There’s no reason to assume that Indians, Indigenous People, or First Nation people aren’t patrons of Quiz Club and they’re perfectly capable of speaking for themselves.
