Greta Tintin Eleonora Ernman Thunberg, born 3 January 2003 in Stockholm, is an environmental activist. She first became widely known in August 2018, when she campaigned outside the Swedish parliament during school days, calling for a school strike against governmental inaction on climate change. Her message went worldwide after she spoke at the 2018 United Nations Climate Change Conference. She has received many honours and awards, including fellowship of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society and, in 2019, Time magazine named her one of the 100 most influential people and the youngest individual Time Person of the Year.
