What is the oldest candy company in the United States?
Necco is the oldest candy company in the United States. Its name stands for The New England Confectionery Company. The company appeared in 1901 after the merger of several confectionery companies. Its core product, Necco Wafers, were invented by Oliver Chase before the merger, in 1847.
As well as famous M&M's candies, Oliver's wafers were first popular among soldiers. The government even ordered Necco to produce candies specially for the soldiers of World War II. By autumn 2010 Necco has produced one trillion Necco Wafer candies. These colorful and tasty candies of different flavors have inspired a lot of candy companies to create new kinds of sweets.

The problem is we don't know when the question was first posed. The earliest comment I see here is April 28, 2016. Therefore, when the question was asked Necco was still in business. They have since shut down which may or may not affect the answer.

The question was "What is the oldest candy company." NECCO was founded by a merger in 1901. Hershey was founded in 1894. The question was not which was the oldest candy.
