The Landlocked Salmon, latin name Salmo salar sebago, is a subspecies of the Atlantic Salmon that do not migrate to the Atlantic Ocean and live their entire lives in fresh water lakes in the northern parts of the US and in Canada. It became the State Fish of Maine in 1969. The Landlocked Salmon can reach a weight of up to 35 pounds and between 15 and 25 inches long. The oldest Landlocked Salmon was found in Maine at the age of 13 years old.
