Petals of this flower are similar with the shape of a woman's sunbonnet and are of blue color. So it was named for its features - bluebonnet. So the answer is a bluebonnet. It blooms in the early spring. It's easy to find in fields and along the waysides throughout Texas.

Its scientific name is Lupinus texensis. Except the name "bluebonnet", it has some other names such as "wolf flower", "buffalo clover", and (by the Mexicans) "el conejo".

P.S. The Texas Legislature adopted a bluebonnet as the official state flower in 1901. This flower is a symbol of Texas up to now.
