What is the widest river in the U.S.?
The widest part of the Mississippi River can be found at Lake Winnibigoshish near Bena, Mn, where it stretches more than eleven miles from shore to shore. At Lake Itasca, the river narrows to approximately twenty to thirty feet wide.
