What kind of pine trees can live for more than 5,000 years?
This long-living kind of pine tree might be found in the higher mountains. Unbelievable, but that means more than 8,000 feet of elevation!
So now we know that this tree grows in the rocky regions. But here is another amazing fact: the tree is actually present only in 6 states of America. These trees are famous for their ability to exist in extremely harsh environment; the species is believed to be one of the oldest plants in the world as its lifespan is about 5,000 years!

The Ponderosa pines in Northern California are said to be over 10,000 years. I also know the Redwoods are over 5,000 years. What gives?

The "General Sherman" is a redwood tree, kin to the cypress family, it is not in the pine "family tree" at all.
