What major league player threw a no hitter while on LSD?

Thanks for posting my question QuizzClub. Just a footnote, Dock Ellis was a well known drug user. His drug of choice was uppers, pot and coke. So this was just another day at the office for him.

LSD has nothing to do with Pot, Crank, Coke or Horse. I’ll tell you what does have : The night before entering the Army I took LSD. My GT Score for the combined ‘battery’ of tests was 160. They don’t have a score any higher. And the Friday Night before the Saturday I took my SAT Tests I took a heathy dose of Sandoz LSD-25. this was in 1966. I still have the Highest Scores ever recorded at Rancho Cordova Senior High School. 1400 +

He was in an alternate yet parallel "zone" - and perhaps that allowed him to see the strike zone better. We will never know for sure - but it's an infamous event!

We used to Ski and Rock Climb in Yosemite all the time. I ‘soloed’ Half Dome on Halloween Night in a full moon on Acid. It was “Blue Cheer” Owsley Acid.

That's awesome! I can't imagine being in a stadium full of people trippin'. Plus being able to stop laughing long enough to throw a ball.

kerzner ron, Because getting high on acid isn't a "performance enhancement," and he didn't bet on baseball.

tdelisi, Thanks for mentioning Alan Watts. I loved listening to his great radio broadcasts in Boston, from Pacifica Rafio. Anyone who wants to learn about Eastern Philosophy, and life, should listen to Alan Watts’ lectures.

Brings me back to personal experiences in college in the 70’s and reading Alan Watts “The Joyous Cosmology.”

Can you imagine if all of the players were on LSD? What a game that would have been.
