On June 12,1970 the Pittsburgh Pirates played the San Diego Padres. Doc Ellis was given the day off. At his girlfriend's home he took LSD. The Pirates starting pitcher became ill before the game. The manager called his girlfriend's house and told her to send Doc to the stadium ASAP. He pitched even though he had trouble focusing on the batters. Not only did he finish the game, he pitched a no hitter.
