Wayne Gretzky played professional ice hockey for the NHL from 1978 to 1999. He started his career with the Edmonton Oilers, and won 4 Stanley Cup championships. Wayne Gretzky is also commonly referred to as "The Great One", and no other hockey player has used the number 99 since he started playing.

He still holds many scoring records such as most goals per season, most assists per season, and most goals and assists in a career. Gretzky has won the Art Ross trophy 10 times, which is given to the player who scores the most points each season.
