What is the shortest sentence in the Bible?
Jesus wept.
Just two simple words compose the shortest verse in the Bible. Being the smallest one, this sentence still carries a word of significance and represents a powerful and insightful message.
In John 11:35 we read Jesus wept at the news of the death of Lazarus and the distress of his sister, Mary. Some in the crowd saw this as an expression of Jesus's love for Lazarus whilst others criticised him for not keeping Lazarus from dying.

I'm surprised they don't say the shortest sentence in the Bible is simply, "Amen."

Stephen Illich, why? it may be a verse, but it's made up of one sentence. Either would be valid, the question's author chose sentence.

Corey Taylor, a sentence has a subject and verb, and usually (but not always) an object. In this case Jesus is the subject, wept is the verb. Amen is not a sentence.
