The four options all refer to real military or governmental operations:

“Operation Leader” was a successful air attack conducted against German shipping in the vicinity of Bodø, Norway, on 4 October 1943, during World War II.

“Operation Drumbeat” is the English translation of the German "Operation Paukenschlag" (1942) a phase in the Battle of the Atlantic during which German submarines attacked merchant shipping and Allied naval vessels along the east coast of North America.

“Operation True Blue” was the code name for the funeral of Margaret Thatcher (2013).

“Operation Hope Not” was the code name of a funeral plan for Winston Churchill (1953).

The date of “Operation Hope Not” is remarkable. The planning was put in hand almost 12 years before Churchill’s death. In the course of his second term as UK Prime Minister (26 October 1951 – 5 April 1955) Churchill suffered a major stroke in June 1953 that partially paralysed him and, in official circles, caused great concern for his health. As a consequence, the British Government started meticulous preparation, as officially decreed by Queen Elizabeth II, for a commemoration "on a scale befitting his position in history".

However, as Lord Mountbatten remarked, Churchill "kept living and the pallbearers kept dying" so that the plan had to be revised several times in the years before his death, aged 90, on 24 January 1965.
