What was the year Sitting Bull was killed?
Sitting Bull, Indian name Tatanka Iyotake, (born c. 1831, near Grand River, Dakota Territory, now in South Dakota), U.S. Died December 15, 1890, on the Grand River in South Dakota), Teton Dakota Indian chief under whom the Sioux tribes united in their struggle for survival on the North American Great Plains. He is remembered for his lifelong distrust of white men and his stubborn determination to resist their domination.
He was killed by Indian agency police on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation during an attempt to arrest him, at a time when authorities feared that he would join the Ghost Dance movement.

Sitting Bull was assassinated by an unscrupulous group of U.S. military Generals aided by Navajo reservation police officers. His murder was one of the greatest unjust travesties committed against the great Lakota Sioux.

His horse had been trained to dance while Sitting Bull was with Buffalo Bill. When Sitting Bull was killed, the horse started dancing, and the Indians his spirit had passed into the horse

Sad and tragic how the native Americans have and are still treated. Bad choices made by our government at the time. My great-great grandmother a native American was hidden out when the east coast Indians were sent West. So the story that was passed down to me. No records exist on her. Have no idea how much truth to that. A lot of others have a similar story.

Here I thought it was Crazy Horse who was assassinated but he was killed in 1877.
If the whites could have allied with the indigenous people, imagine what a truly MIGHTY country we could have been. Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull were brilliant Generals.

Kerry Garner, I know I wondered about that as Crazy horse was ogallala Lakota Sioux and Hunkpapas were not far away all around or near pine ridge. I've been there. I never saw any Navajo? You are right too Sitting Bull was a chief and it was a total misunderstanding on the Ghost Dance as the White man thought it was a war dance..misunderstood always causes trouble.
