When was George Washington born?
Well, you are not obliged to remember the date of birth of this legendary person. But it's a must for you to know what he did for his country. He was born in a family of an ordinary landowner but was rather educated as he enjoyed reading and learning. Everybody knows that he was the first President of the US and every American is proud of his deeds of high resolve. He was one of the wisest men of the country and always wanted his motherland to be the greatest. We hope that modern America is equal to his expectations!
What are your thoughts on this subject?

I knew it. I knew there HAD to be somebody who'd pick 1961.

Of cxourse one hass to bear in mind that the English and their colonies were the last "great power" to adopt the Papal reform calendar, so that Washington himself would have celebrated his birthday somewhere around February 11 (by our calendar). How God blessed this country with a man who early determined how his walk in life was to be conducted--and how correctly he dealt with the situation in the former colonies after the war, and as its first president elected under the new Constitution.Unlike Caesar, Cromwell, Bolivar, or Napoleon, he did not take personal advantage of his success to make himself ruler. Wow! Without falling into hero worship, it must be said that this man was a great leader and example.

To be in his 40s at the start of the revolution was considered old in that era, life expectancy was not much beyond the 50s. However colonial life was better than European life and the Colonials were stronger and healtheir on average than the British occupiers.

The only thing I can think of, for people to get this wrong would be for them to not have attended an American K12 Schools System (Excluding "Common Core" Schools, of course)

I'm from the UK and I got it correct but even so I can't believe some people chose 1961! I'm sure everyone has at least heard of him and how he was president of the USA.

I would have vetoed this question for a 1961 date. It doesn't matter if it got a few votes.

docluci, Though his birthday was Feb. 22, we've celebrated Presidents' Day the Monday between Feb. 12 (Lincoln) and 22 for many years, so younger people might not remember. But 1809 or 1961????

Please take the time to visit Mt Vernon, it is so worth the time. He was also a farmer, horticulturist, created wine, owned a beautiful home, and loved Martha very much! He was not a one dimensional person in a picture frame!

Skarlett Skorsgaard, No doubt some liberal fool who can't tell the difference between a good President and a terror-lover like Barack Obama(yes, it's HIS birthdate!).
