When was the first instant camera invented?
The first prototype of the simplest instant camera was developed in 1923 by Samuel Shlafrock. The construction was a bit bulky as it consisted of a camera itself and a "portable" darkroom. For sure, this invention couldn't become commercially viable because it was poorly adapted for life. That is why most people think that the first cameras of the type were invented in 1948 when they became hand portable and easy to use.
