Cleopatra was the last active pharaoh of Ptolemaic Egypt. After her reign, Egypt became a province of the then-recently established Roman Empire.

The Ptolemies, throughout their dynasty, spoke Greek, and refused to speak Egyptian. By contrast, Cleopatra did learn to speak Egyptian, and represented herself as the reincarnation of an Egyptian goddess, Isis. Nowadays Cleopatra is known worldwide as one of the most influential and stunning women of all time.

Many people of her epoch believed her to be a temptress who used her sexuality as a powerful weapon. The truth is that Cleopatra was very intelligent, educated and cunning. She spoke as many as a dozen languages and was good at mathematics, philosophy, oratory and astronomy.

Many modern historians even doubt her famous beauty: they believe Cleopatra might have been a woman of an average appearance. Anyway, the proof (such as elaborate bust or painting) has not been found yet. One thing is clear - Cleopatra was one of the greatest rulers of all time.

You are correct. She & her brother, the previous Pharoah, were from Greece. The question asked 'where did she come from?" Not where did she live or reign. These questions have serious mechanics of grammar challenges!

She was born in Egypt, but she's not Egyptian? THe "Greek" rule of Egypt was 250 years long and there was marriage of Greek to Egyptian (Ptolony married an Egyptian Peincess to secure the crowns) I assume that you have a passport from the country that your Great (250 years) grandparents immigrated from. Most of the arguments are from people that are just maling excuses for being wrong.

Although Cleopatra was not an indigenous Egyptian she was born in Egypt,spoke Egyptian and had Greek and Macedonian ancestry. She was from the Ptolemaic line of Egyptian rulers in Alexandria and descended from Ptolemy one of Alexander the Great's generals. Although not strictly indigenous her ancestors had been in Egypt for over 300 years,longer indeed than many Americans of non native American heritage.
