Which achievement refers to Charles Darwin?

Darwin Day is a celebration to commemorate the anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin on 12 February 1809. The day is used to highlight Darwin's contribution to science and to promote science in general. Darwin came up with the idea of Natural Selection. This is the idea that the environment an organism lives in helps to determine which organisms survive and produce young, and which do not. He studied earthworms, orchids, pigeons and many other animals and plants, all the while working on a lengthy essay to explain and back up his idea of natural selection.

I do believe in adaptation, and for that matter evolution to the extend that animals (and plants) can adapt to certain environments in which they do not naturally occur or have changed due to climate changes etc. A good example is the African Elephant. The bush elephant with bowed tusks and the savanah elephant with the longer straighter tusks evolved due to the the terrain and foraging patterns. But a human was created a human.

Greg...I'm guessing the reason primates have possibly ceased to evolve is...just look at the mess of our planet humans have made! Look at what evolution has done..cruelty beyond imagination with horrific acts upon one another. If I were an ape wouldn't it be better swinging from a tree opposed to a rope? Just sayin'

Darwin was not about Man from Ape...he was more about the natural way a species adapts to its environment. I the breif time 'human-kind' has inhabitited the planet Earth we have seen no evolution of one spevies becoming another. We have seen evidence of adaptation within species in almost every climate and environment.
This puts many debates about the origins of Mankind into question only by those who seek to question things that go beyond their comfort zone and ecclesiastic belief system.

I see evidence of evolution all around me every day and it fascinates me. The sad part is we do only have a short time on this earth and I would so much want to be here in a thousand years or so. Hey, maybe I will come back as a talking jackass in a thousand years, lol.

Then in say at least 5 human years speech which is one of our 5 senses would be evident in primates and isn't. On the other hand let's observer two other species Darwin didn't utilize in his hypothesis or theories on evolution: 1) The dolphin and 2) The parrot or cockatoo. Both are of either marine or fowl animal species that exhibit speech of communicative skills present in a human being. What primate possess this?
