Ben Kingsley, born 1943 (Krishna Pandit Bhanji) in Great Britain and is of Indian decent. He is probably best known for his portrayal of Mohandas Gandhi in the 1982 film "Gandhi", the role which he received the Academy Award for Best Actor. Other films include "Schindler's List", "Sexy Beast", "Iron Man 3" and "The Jungle Book". He was appointed Knight Bachelor in 2002 for services to the British film industry.

The film "Without a Clue" starred Michael Caine as Sherlock Holmes and Ben Kingsley as Dr. John Watson. Set in Victorian Britain, Dr. John Watson hired a bumbling, unemployed actor, Reginald Kincaid to pose as the crime-solving detective Sherlock Holmes. This front allows Watson to solve crimes but not disturb his medical practice, while the credit goes to Holmes. He in turn publishes Holmes' exploits in a series of articles in "The Strand" magazine. Problems arise when Watson fires Holmes and intends to publish stories centered around the "Crime Doctor". A new case involving arson and counterfeit 5 pound notes with Professor Moriarty behind the crimes leads Watson to realize he can't operate without the Holmes mystique. After the case is solved, Holmes recognizes Watson's contribution to their cases to a group of reporters, with Watson promising the continuation of their partnership.

The movie itself was not received well by critics and earned only US$8.5 million at the box office.
