Which actress has been nominated for an Emmy in six different decades?
At age 98, Betty White is truly an acting legend, especially on the small screen.
Betty Marion White Ludden (b. January 1922) is an American actress and comedian. With a television career spanning over 80 years, White has worked longer in that medium than anyone else in the TV industry. Often called the "First Lady of Television”. White has been nominated for an impressive 21 Emmys across six decades.
White's first nomination came in 1951 for Best Actress (she didn’t win). Her next nomination came in 1975, at which time White went home with an Emmy for her role as Sue Ann Nivens on ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show’; she won again in 1976.
A staple panelist of American game shows such as Password, Match Game, Tattletales, The Hollywood Squares and The $25,000 Pyramid, White became the first woman to receive an Emmy Award for Daytime in 1983 as the ‘Outstanding Game Show Host’ for the show ‘Just Men’.
To date, she has received eight Emmy awards in various categories. Five were for Primetime shows, with the most recent being Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series (on Saturday Night Live). Two awards were for Daytime programs (the game show and Lifetime Achievement Awards). She also won a Regional (Los Angeles) Emmy. White has won three American Comedy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild awards, and a Grammy, and has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
It's no wonder she also received the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’.
