Which american president do people commemorate on National Freedom Day?

I am an American. Having lived in America for over 66 years I can definitely state that Americans do not celebrate National Freedom Day. I have never heard of it! Who wrote this crap?

Unfortunately, after the 13th amendment abolished slavery. The state of Texas, didn't get the message, until (2) years later. That's why the state of Texas, had it's own celebration, of the slaves being freed, on the 19th of June. Better know as "Juneteenth" to Texans.

That holiday is called Emancipation Day. I am 65, politics and history buff, and I have NEVER even heard of "Freedom Day".

I am over 70 and agree as an American _ never celebrated or heard of National Freedom Day!

I have never heard of National Freedom Day, and am nearing my 69th birthday. I studied history in college, but that wasn’t included. I answered correctly due only to the fact that we didn’t have a president when we fought for our freedom, so the only logical answer was the president who signed the document that freed the human beings who had been enslaved.

Frankly, I never even realized there was such a day, but Lincoln seemed like the "logical" choice.

I’m very patriotic, having lived all of my 63 years in the USA, and I had never heard of this “holiday.” February holidays, to me, include Lincoln’s birthday, Valentine’s Day, and Washington’s Birthday. Presidents’ Day is a construct of the desire to have more federal holidays on Mondays and is illegitimate. February 1st is the day before Groundhog’s Day, another sad excuse for a “holiday.”

I knew the only president to set anyone free had to be Lincoln.

I didn't know that holiday. So sorry fellow Americans. Current POTUS kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

To all those who are criticizing this question because you've "never heard of it" or "never celebrated it", the questions reads "commemorate". It IS a legitimate day of commemoration whether you have heard of it or not. Thus, a perfect "trivia" question.

As the paragraph above states it is an observance not a National Public Holiday. The question answer is correct check it out before you call names, please!

dsneed, If you read the explanation, it indicates "Freedom Day" is celebrated in the US on February 1st. President's Day is what the US celebrates on the third Monday in February. We used to celebrate Lincoln's birthday (2/12) and Washington's birthday (2/22) separately. They were combined to be President's Day. I consider myself a Patriot and this is the first I've heard of February 1st being called "Freedom Day."

Lynne Zeman, I agree with you. I'm a native American of almost 84 years and I've never heard of National Freedom Day as well. If one respondent says it has to do with Lincoln's birthday, 12 February, then I can see it. But Presidents' Day includes all our presidents, supposedly, some of which HAD SLAVES!
