Being the capital, this city is located in the heart of the state – on the southern bank of the Arkansas River. But the main resource of freshwater for the city inhabitants is actually the lake located nearby. The western part of the city is placed on hills and this fact makes the area really likable and cool for sightseeing.

Evelyn Forbes, I grew up on the San Francisco Peninsula and would go through Arkansas in the early 50's and remember it being hotter then Las Vegas. Now I live in North West Arkansas and it's a lot cooler. How odd that the Arkansas Capitol is named after a little rock and the capitol of Louisiana is named after a red stick but then, the early French trapper named a bunch of mountains in Wyoming after what they missed the most.
