Capital Cities is an American pop duo formed in 2010 from Los Angeles, California. The band currently consists of members Ryan Merchant on vocals, keyboard, and guitar, Sebu Simonian on vocals and keyboard, Manny Quintero on bass guitar, Spencer Ludwig on trumpet, Nick Merwin on guitar and Channing Holmes on drums.

The band is known significantly for their breakout hit single, "Safe and Sound", written and produced by Capital Cities members Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian, peaking at number eight on the United States Billboard Hot 100 and achieving commercial success in several other territories upon release of their debut studio album, "In a Tidal Wave of Mystery" in 2013.
