Which basketball player earned a Doctorate degree in Education?
Everybody knows this outstanding sportsman. However, few people know that he also earned a Doctorate degree! The man who creates an image of a typical basketball player (7'1'' ft tall!) is interested not only in sports but in education as well. He said that he did it for his mother as she had always stressed the importance of education.

Shaq is one of the recent greats of basketball (except for free throws which he was horrible at). His parents are strong proponents of education and when he left college early to join the NBA his mother made him promise he would finish his degree at LSU. He did so and then some. You can see him in commercials hawking everything from Icy Hot to Frosted Flakes. He's an affable fellow that has given back to his community and works to keep kids off the street and in the gym. Little Shaq history for those who've never heard of him.

That is the greatest thought is the importance of education. I also do not know that he earned a doctorate in education. A giant with a big head and a big heart.

Kobe Bryant and Lebron James did not go to college and DeAndre Jordan only had one season of college ball. That only left Shaq O'Neal with the PhD.
