Which character actor has a role in "Miller's Crossing", "Goodfellas, "Billy Bathgate", and "The Bodyguard"?
The big screen character actor who has a role in "Miller's Crossing" (1990), "Good Fellas" (1990), "Billy Bathgate" (1991), and "The Bodyguard" (1992) is Michael "Mike" Starr (b. July 29, 1950 in Flushing, New York). Starr worked as a bouncer and bartender before landing small parts in "Squeeze Play!", a 1979 American comedy film, "Cruising", a 1980 crime thriller, and "The Bushido Blade", a 1981 action thriller and fictional sideline regarding a key historical event occurring in Japan.
In these three films, Starr plays a salon proprietor, Chief Petty Officer "Cave" Johnson, and a police officer (a beat patrolman, named Dasher), respectively.
Mike Starr is of Polish and Irish descent. His family's surname was originally Dwiazda, which means "star" in Polish. Starr likes to point out that he began his acting career in 1978 in a minor role where he played Max on the TV show "Hawaii Five-O" in the episode titled 'Small Potatoes'.
Now, Starr says, "I get a lot of calls for New York-oriented things, mob parts, cop roles. I think they stereotype me by size; that's a bit of a pitfall. Some people bring me in for the big gentle guy or to play a criminal killer. It's hard to figure out what they (directors) think of me.
