The novels "A Series of Unfortunate Events" is a series of thirteen children's books written by American author Daniel Handler (b. February 28, 1970) under the pen name Lemony Snicket. The books follow the turbulent lives of Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire. After their parents' death in a fire, the children are placed in the custody of a murderous relative, Count Olaf. He attempts to steal their inheritance and later, orchestrates numerous disasters with the help of his accomplices as the children attempt to flee.
As the plot progresses, the Baudelaires gradually confront further mysteries surrounding their family and deep conspiracies involving a secret society known as V.F.D. (Volunteer Fire Department).
This series follows the adventures of three orphaned siblings. Lemony Snicket as the the narrator documents the lives of the siblings and explains to the readers that very few positive things happen to the kids. The family itself (Baudelaire) is a very prominent fictional family.
Bertrand was the father and Beatrice was the mother. The couple died in a fire that destroyed the family home. Violet is the oldest. She is an intelligent, avid inventor and on numerous occasions saves the lives of her siblings Klaus and Sunny.
Klaus, the middle child, is an intelligent, avid reader. Sunny, the youngest, is an infant. Beatrice Baudelaire II is an adoptive daughter. Snicket takes a look at all their lives in very great detail.
