Which city in Europe is also called the Turkish Capital outside of Turkey?

Nowadays people have got used to the phenomenon of globalization and one will not be surprised to know that more and more people leave their native countries and move to foreign lands. According to statistics, more than 200,000 Turkish people live in Berlin and even call the city "the second Turkish capital". But this mixture of cultures doesn't deprive the country of its unique character.

Much the same as my home city Melbourne (Australia) is often described as the third largest Greek city in the world.

I've left my "home" country. Born in Scotland in 1942, lived in England from 1942 to 1978, Jersey from 1978 to 2009 and since then in South Africa. I can't go further south - no-one lives permanently in Antarctica.

Not many people remember that after construction of the Berlin Wall in 1961 Government of West Germany signed an agreement with Turkey and invited Turkish people to emigrate to Germany. The economy of W.Germany was booming and the country suffered from a labour shortage. Now there are 3rd and 4th generations Turks in Germany. Maybe 4 or 5 million Turks are living there.

I know when I was in Berlin some 30 years ago there were a lot of Turk's there so I went with it .

during the days of the Ottoman Empire, Germany was the only major power that would arm the Turks....that could be a reason so many Turks went to Berlin...

The Germans have imported a large percentage of their labor force ever since the end of WWII. Pretty obvious why that was necessary. In the 1960s, I met Egytians who were living there to work. When you import labor, you also import religion and culture.
