Which company manufactured the engines on the Concorde?

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Limited is a British luxury automobile maker. A wholly owned subsidiary of German group BMW, it was established in 1998. The Rolls-Royce/Snecma Olympus 593 was an Anglo-French afterburning (reheated) turbojet which powered the supersonic airliner Concorde. It was initially a joint project between Bristol Siddeley Engines Limited (BSEL) and Snecma.

Rolls-Royce Limited acquired BSEL in 1966 during development of the engine making BSEL the Bristol Engine Division of Rolls-Royce.

Dan Barnett, I think it might be that particular version of the company that was established in 1998, rather than Rolls-Royce itself, which obviously has been around for a great while longer.

Used to work for the Aero Engine Division, then owned by the British Government, the car division was a separate company, that was sold to the germans. The Aero Engine Division is stilll British and actually owns the name - BMW can only use it on the cars under licence.

The car maker (owned by BMW) and the engineering company are separate companies whole having been bought by the British government in 1971 separated in 1973. Concorde and the Vulcan bomber both had Rolls-Royce Olympus engines.

My husband used to work in the steel industry here in Sheffield and they make components for Rolls Royce and some years ago they were doing parts for Concord
