The conjunction of the Triple Alliance supposed the strategic, military and political union of the German Empire, the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the Kingdom of Italy.

After gradual approaches in the years prior to World War I, this military union was formalized in 1913, as a protection measure against attacks by the French or Russians and the appearance of third parties for reasons of territorial annexation.

The evolution of the great war led to block movements, causing new unions to the Triple Alliance, in the notable case of the Ottoman Empire, and the change of front in the case of Italy.

An important role in the future of the conflict was the smaller annexation of countries that this alliance had against the other block, the Triple Entente.

In this way, the appearance of powers, such as the United States or China, on the side of the Entente's allies undermined the capabilities of the Triple Alliance and influenced its defeat.
