Which country in Africa has the longest coastline?
Madagascar is a large island in the Indian Ocean off the eastern coast of southern Africa, east of Mozambique. It is the fourth largest island in the world. The capital Antananarivo is in the Hauts Plateaux near the centre of the island. Madagascar has a total area of 587,040 sq km with 581,540 sq km of land and 5,500 sq km of water. Madagascar is 400 km east of mainland Africa.
Madagascar has the longest coastline of any country in Africa (4,828 km), followed by Somalia(3,025 km).

Donald McBurney, Madagascar IS in Africa. Africa doesn’t mean only the continental part.

Geographically Madagascar is a country in East Africa. Just like most of the Carribbean Islands are countries in North America. Or Newfounland, Nova Scotia and PEI, are a part of Canada. Just because it's off shore, doesn't mean it isn't a part of a country or continent.
