Which country of South America has a Welsh speaking region?

The Welsh people first arrived in Patagonia in 1865. They had migrated to protect their native Welsh culture and language, which they considered to be threatened in their native Wales. Over the years the use of the language started to decrease and there was relatively little contact between Wales and the Chubut Valley. The situation began to change when many Welsh people visited the region in 1965 to celebrate the colony's centenary; since then the number of Welsh visitors increased.

Carry on setting questions....even with the error, your question was still better than many of the questions on here. Michael John Armiger, your question is an excellent one and you have no need to apologise. There are a very small number of Welsh speakers in Chile, as there are in Canada, New York and London, but unlike Argentina these places have no definable Welsh-speaking region. And while the Welsh speakers are now a minority around the towns of Trelew, Trevelin, Gaiman and Dolavon in the Argentine province of Chubut that area will forever be associated with them. They have been there since 1865. Throughout history migrations have taken place for political, religious and economic reasons. The Welsh migration to Patagonia must surely be unique in that it was conceived primarily for linguistic reasons.
