Born in Susa in about the year 492, young Hadasseh's name was changed to Esther (in honor of the Persian goddess Ishtar) when she was chosen to be the wife of Xerxes I. She is one of only two women for whom books of the Bible were named -- the other being Ruth.

Einsteinium (Es), Thorium (Th), and Erbium (Er) spell out the name Esther.
