Which emporium won the special prize of interior at the 2024 Prix Versailles awards?
Announced annually by UNESCO in Paris, France, since 2015, the Prix Versailles is a series of architectural competitions that shine a light on the finest contemporary projects worldwide. The "World's Most Beautiful” Achievements recognition by the Prix Versailles in eight categories (Airports, Campuses, Passenger Stations, Stadiums, Museums, Emporiums, Hotels & Restaurants) highlights the primary role of the Laureates in beautifying and improving the living environment.
Among seven nominees on the World’s Most Beautiful Emporiums List for 2024, Dior, Geneva, Switzerland, was awarded the Prix Versailles, while SKP, Chengdu, China, won the special prize for interior, and Nouvelles Galeries, Annecy, France, won the special prize for exterior.
Designed by London-based Sybarite, SKP Chengdu becomes an unparalleled landmark for fashion, tech and art and a new milestone for the city, comprising 33 crafted landscapes and scenic spots in nature. The parallel connection of the top and corresponding plunging architecture emerges as quarried into the landscape akin to a canyon as one descends. A sunken world of retail, hospitality, tech, experience, and art is constantly in motion, evolving and changing, yet underpinned by a common narrative – a celebration of diversity living under one ‘botanical roof’.
The project leverages the latest technology to achieve energy saving, environmental protection, pollution and emission reduction and low carbon production methods.
