As Marco's doubts deepen, Shaw's political power grows, and, when Marco finds a mysterious implant embedded in his body, the memory of what really happened begins to return.
"The Manchurian Candidate" is a film about a Korean War hero who returns to the USA after having been unwittingly brainwashed to carry out an assassination. The hero or 'Manchurian candidate' is a person who is normally a politician, being used as a puppet by an enemy power. The two-word term indicates a person who is disloyal or corrupt, whether intentional or unintentional.
This 1962 film was directed by John Frankenheimer, written by Richard Condon, George Axelrod and Frankenheimer. It was produced by George Axelrod and Frankenheimer. Lionel Lindon did the cinematography and the editing was done by Ferris Webster. The film was widely acclaimed by movie critics.
