Yes great movie ! They were all set up by the British & Irish governments ! The Doyle family suffered also 14 year old son received 6 years his mother 14 years ! I have just written a whole paragraph and it has disappeared so I will try to repeat. Working on night duty with an auxiliary nurse as my assistant she actually celebrated the bombings although as though she was part of the Instigating team However a further memory not long after the bombing I was friendly with a lovely Irish family they were customers of my husbands he had a green grocery round door to door hawker in the town. When not on duty as a trained nurse I helped him and got to know many families some as it was local had been patients I had nursed. One Friday not long after the Birmingham bombing I went to the house from the van with their order the lady was weeping .I tried to comfort her but she said she would no longer be able to bea customer they had been called back to Ireland . Her husband had joined the IRA as a boy soldier every year since he had been forced to return to Ireland for six weeks to keep trained if needed .Due to now needed all the family had to return immediately. She explained that is why each year when you thought he was in Ireland to make sure he was off the drink it wasn’t that he was updating his army skills I was to believe he was going so he remained a tea totaler. They had four children the eldest just 14 had just gained a place as an apprentice for Liverpool football team he to like Mum devastated. I said don’t go but she explained if they didn’t their extended families in Ireland would be punished That night they did a midnight flit back to Ireland and we never saw them Again What we were aware of the local Catholic Church was the base where everything was organised by the priest and of course the IRA spies .i have often wondered what happened to them but also been aware of many families may have experienced the same experiences
