When you hear the crackling of a Geiger counter checking radiation, the noise is made by alpha particles. Add 2 electrons and you have a helium atom.

Vaughan Smith, I think the QuizzClub player explained well that the difference between the alpha particle and a helium atom is two electrons in the atom. I had only heard of an alpha particle of the four options and was not certain, because the word helium was in the back of my mind. I did not know if the other particles were real. I siuspect this question lies well outside Carol's personal field of expertise. I googled all four of these answers and the explanations delve deep, into the realm of quantum physics, somewhat more complex than the answer quoted.
