Eugenics is a set of beliefs and practices that aim to improve the genetic quality of a human population by excluding (through a variety of morally criticized means) certain genetic groups judged to be inferior, and promoting other genetic groups judged to be superior. The definition of eugenics has been a matter of debate since the term was coined by Francis Galton in 1883.

The concept predates the term; Plato suggested applying the principles of selective breeding to humans around 400 BC. Early advocates of eugenics considered it as a way of improving groups of people. In modern usage, the term Eugenics has close ties to scientific racism and white supremacism. Modern bioethicists who advocate new eugenics describe it as a way of enhancing individual traits, regardless of group membership.

I am always horrified by the arrogance of white man.. And I am white myself, externally at least. Have always held with the concept that Adam and Eve were the first created, therefore we are ALL related and colour has nought to do with it. HATE the term "race" in relation to coloured skin in humans, there is only ONE human race..!!

I only believe in trying to get rid of hereditary diseases and other diseases than can be passed down the generations but I would not actively force it people are often smart enough to understand the risks when having children. Otherwise, we are who we are and that's what gives us joy in life. If we are all the same what's the point?

Kathryn Cavanagh, Unfortunately the practice of eugenics has been adopted in many other cultures throughout history, China Japan and Korea are examples, even Singapore has had laws against marriage between the educated and the not so educated.
