Telepathy (from the Greek τῆλε tēle, "distant" and παθέειν pathéein, "feeling, perception") consists in the transmission of psychic contents, between individuals, through the mind without the use of known physical agents. It is considered a form of extrasensory perception or anomalous cognition and is also thought to be instantaneous.

Although many experiments on telepathy have been carried out, its reality is not accepted by the vast majority of the scientific community, arguing that the magnitudes of energy that the human brain is capable of producing are insufficient to allow the transmission of information. However, some researchers point out that, with the necessary technology, in the future, it will be possible to interpret brain waves using a device and send text messages to a receiver wirelessly. However, they rule out that this process can be carried out from brain to brain without technological mediation. To date, the only evidence of telepathy is testimonial narratives, since a telepathic phenomenon has never been reproduced in the laboratory.

Telepathy is frequently treated in Ufology (the study of reports, visual records, purported physical evidence, and other phenomena related to UFOs - Unidentified Flying Objects), novels, and fiction films.
