Mountains of the Moon (Latin, Montes Lunae) is an ancient term referring to a legendary mountain or mountain range in east Africa at the source of the Nile River. Various identifications have been made in modern times, the Rwenzori Mountains of Uganda being the most celebrated.

Ancient people called the mountain range so because of its snow-covered peaks. The information about the range was delivered by Diogenes, an Ancient Greek merchant. He heard the name from the natives and reported the location of the range to the Ancient Greek geographers. This mountain rage, located on the border of modern Congo and Uganda, creates miraculous landscapes and attracts a lot of travelers every year.
