Since March 2003, Saint Pierre and Miquelon has been an overseas collectivity with a special status. The inhabitants possess French citizenship and suffrage. Saint Pierre and Miquelon send a senator and a deputy to the National Assembly of France in Paris, and enjoy an amount of autonomy concerning taxes, customs and excise.

Actually the island is situated in the Gulf of St. Lawrence 20 km southwest of the Burin Peninsula near Newfoundland Bonnie

Carlos Cruz, Not wrong. EVERY island in the world is assigned/attached to the nearest continent. If the question had asked about Greenland e.g., the answer would have been North America even though Greenland “belongs” to Denmark. Same with Cuba and Puerto Rico.
