The Solanaceae, or nightshades, are a botanical family of flowering plant that range from annual and perennial herbs to vines, lianas, epiphytes, shrubs and trees, and includes a number of agricultural crops, medicinal plants, spices, weeds and ornamentals. The list of edible nightshades is fairly short but the list of poisonous ones is quite extensive. Most of the nightshades are toxic to human beings, with the best- known being belladonna, or “deadly nightshade”. Tobacco (nicotiana tabacum) is also another famous member of this family. The Solanaceae family also includes edible vegetables like potato, tomato, eggplant, capsicum and chillies.

Cabbage or headed cabbage (brassica oleracea)is a leafy green, purple or light green biennial plant, is a member of the genus brassica and the mustard family Brassicaceae. Several other cruciferous vegetables also known as cole crops are considered cultivars of( brassica oleracea), including broccoli, collard greens etc. etc.
